We are a small group of volunteers supporting the disabled and primarily covering the North Dorset areas
In 2001 it became obvious that there was a real need for a wheelchair and scooter loan service for persons with mobility problems within the area. It was also recognised that the disabled communities were least able to make major purchases of wheelchairs, powerchairs and scooters, it being especially difficult if the mobility problem was one which may only be temporary, for example if the need for assistance was only short term, pending an operation or during a period following an operation.
Experience has been shown that the use of mobility equipment can give a disabled person a state of independence and can allow the disabled people to better integrate into the community. The situation has improved over the years, many mobility aid shops now exist with an extensive range of products on offer which can bewilder the newly disabled
